What else can I do with my restaurant manager career experience?
From the college senior about to get their first management position to the experienced restaurant manager who may feel locked into one segment, it is important to realize that you have options.
Managers just getting into the restaurant business need to understand that it is important to know your "segment" of the food service industry well before beginning your career. The reason is simple; food service managers tend stay within their starting segment. Quick service restaurant managers tend to stay in quick service; full service restaurant managers tend to stay in full service, and so on.
But even though there is a tendency to stay, there are other options that you would be very happy in, but few know they exist. Don't feel trapped into thinking you must stay and be miserable or that you must leave the industry entirely to start over. You don't. The food service industry is rich and diverse, and your experience will count!
